It’s coming up to that time of year where our inbox is flooded with requests for van driving jobs.
We are meticulous when it comes to recruiting our drivers and we have a few requirements.
We love experienced drivers, those that have held a driving license the longest, will have an advantage. Those that can drive a van, have a bigger advantage. Experienced drivers, with their drivers license (both parts and it’s clean), van driving experience and a CRB check have the biggest advantage.
We also hire for attitude.
If you have load opinions and wish to share them with anyone and everyone, working for us is not your thing. Our customers are not there as entertainment for you.
People like people, and if you are amiable and easy going and able to follow directions (from a sat nav) and from our office then you have the advantage of the other applicants.
Our vehicles are tracked, from engine start to engine stop. The speed is tracked, the fuel consumption tracked and the routes used are also tracked. This is so we can always locate our vehicles and give our customers peace of mind. If you are the type of person who likes to break the speed limit, catch a nap in a lay-by or stop off home for a 3 hour lunch – this is not the job for you.
Our drivers keep their clothes on. They understand that it may be cooler to driver with their shirts off, but customers don’t like it. Even in the summer they wear trousers and skirts. Image matters to all of our team, we make the effort to look professional, so do our drivers.
We carry very valuable consignments, so we always, always, always check references. We check back 10 years. If you cannot provide 10 years worth of work history (including periods of unemployment), then we’ll have to assume you were in prison and have withheld information or lied to us. That doesn’t fit with our open and honest work culture, so you will not get a job with us.
If you tell us you drive safely but have points on your license for speeding, then we would need you to reconsider that statement. If you don’t know parking rules (and you will be asked them) then you will need to understand when you join our company you are responsible for paying your own parking tickets. Even if you got them in our vehicle, delivering for one of our customers. Being a delivery driver doesn’t exempt you from the rules.
If you are steady, reliable, honest and capable of lifting – yes, all our drivers help load and unload, then email us your details. We will send you back an application form, we’ll ask a lot of questions and then call you in for an interview if you fulfill our criteria.
We promise our customers the difference in their delivery, part of that difference is our drivers.
