We are active users of of social media and reply to as many tweets as possible. Sometimes though if Twitter is down we don’t see the messages. We work with time critical goods and if something is urgent the fastest way to reach us is by phone.
If you need a courier quote, you can get one in a number of ways
- Snail mail
- Telephone
If you want us to advise you on something that is urgent, then you need to pick up the phone. If you are relying on a third party program to deliver the message you have to hope it gets through, all day yesterday there were ‘fail whales’ but sadly a potential customer didn’t take that into account.
After tweeting to ask us which of our competitors would give them the cheapest price, they then got the ump that we didn’t respond fast enough to their query. Forgive me for saying this but if it was that important why didn’t they pick up the phone?
Was it because they didn’t want to use our services but to use our knowledge and felt a little embarrassed by asking? Who knows, they were quick enough to blast us for not responding to them for 12 hours.
In the world of instant responses how fast did our competitors respond, seeing that we were busy? … Ah, they didn’t. They also missed the opportunity.
I won’t mention how many times we quote but get no reply, no acknowledgement, no thanks but no thanks. Just silence. As Lynn Tulip says over here – social media communication is a two way thing.
So if you have tweeted us for a quote and we didn’t get back to you fast enough, I sincerely apologise. If if was that urgent to you, I suggest you do what you would do in the event your house is on fire – pick up the phone.
If I have never responded to a request, I humbly apologise. Twitter allows you only so many API calls when you use an application such as Tweetdeck or Hootsuite this means we are dependent on the information getting through to us.
