When you look at a fossil, they look quite light. In actual fact many of them are very dense and quite heavy even though they don’t look like it!

The average fossil that people have in their homes weighs 30kgs, which depending on the dimensions, can make it to heavy to go by post. The Health and Safety laws state that items over 25kgs should be lifted by two people.

When we have delivered fossils in the past, we have found a dedicated vehicle often works the best. It is more expensive, but how do you put a price on something that took 65 million years to make?

Smaller Fossils can be wrapped (plenty of bubble wrap) and packed securely to send by post or parcel carrier. It’s unlikely they would be covered by insurance.
