You want your freight to go to the right destination, a postcode helps make it happen faster, more efficiently. You want a delivery in a place that may not be on a map yet? The chances are if you update your sat nav often, it will find the post code and you can locate your end location with ease. *Whispers* Rumour has it there is a park bench in Westminster that has its own postcode so that the local homeless can receive their benefits.

It’s fifty years since the first UK postcode was introduced in 1959!
A nice little factoid and one I’ll certainly file away under “useful gems for the pub quizâ€â€¦ but so what, surely they’ve been replaced by that ubiquitous item of personal identity, the email address?
