On Saturday we took a drive over to Great chart in Kent to meet some fellow twitter users.
Our venue was the public house owned by @hoodenershorse where he serves a selection of real ale and Mexican food. We found the venue easy enough and although there isn’t a car park, there was ample parking on the street (which may have been partly due to the heavy rain).
Inside we were warmed greeted by @NikkiPilkington @BabsSaul @LeighQuantrill and @hoodenershorse. We were just waiting for @zrushforth to arrive before we ordered lunch.
Andy recommended the steak and chicken fajitas as fajitas are Kevs fave, although Kev insists on calling them Fah Jee Tas just to wind me up. The steak and chicken were served up on sizzling skillets with a pot of tortillas, which the girls promptly dived into.
After a really lovely lunch (home made chips are to die for) it was time for some cup cakes made by fellow tweeter @SallyHBewsey I have to say, these cupcakes were works of art. The children started a war over them and who would have the one with a dog on it. I had a delicate one with revels and chocolate sauce. I turned it upside down and it confirmed to me our original thoughts on delivering cupcakes – they are to fragile to go through the post
but incredibly delicious to eat.
Andy is a genial host and I forgive him for telling me how to wrap my fajitas, he obviously thought as we lived in Essex we didn’t have a clue
. Hoodeners Horse is a lovely old fashioned pub with regulars who return even when they are dead! You may think it’s the wind blowing the door open, its not - it’s ghosts
. Andy may convince you differently but I think my theory adds even more to the charm of the pub
.
As you can see, we had a veritable feast of lovely food, served in a pleasant environment by smiling staff. If you are in or near Great Chart in Kent, drop in for some lunch and say hi to Andy and Jacqui. Its a treat for your tastebuds.
The rest of the company was superb as always
