Yesterday my iPhone was delivered. After seeing friends one in November, I decided to take the plunge and get one – it didn’t look that complicated and much of the support aspect of our own courier business takes place online, so I thought I’d get one.

It was delivered by DPD. The delivery aspect itself was very interesting, our house has a name and not a number, but the driver located us. ![]()
He walked up the path, tapped on the door and then walked away.
Sarah saw this happen and chased him and then he asked if he was at the right place. We confirmed that he was and Sarah asked why he didn’t ring the bell. He ignored her. He confirmed that I was indeed Kevin Arrow, I signed for the phone, he grunted and walked away.
If the TV was on, we would have missed the delivery. The driver would have said he couldn’t find the house / address and possibly wouldn’t have left the card as he wasn’t sure. He wasn’t interested in making his delivery, he could have rang the bell but chose to tap on the door and walk away. He was focused solely on something, but it wasn’t his job or seeing the delivery went to the correct location. This would indicate to me he was an agency driver who had not had much training or an induction. As a customer perhaps I look to hard at the delivery aspect of getting my iPhone, it arrived safe and I didn’t have to chase the parcel company (Sarah did that, down the street
) so a lot of people would be happy with that.
I guess I am too much of a perfectionist when I deliver and I expect everyone else to have the same pride in their own jobs as I do mine. No wonder so many re-deliveries take place at this time of year.

It amazes me that people like that still have jobs! It’s not really the end of the world if he rings the wrong doorbell and someone tells him it’s the wrong address, is it? So the only explanation is laziness – in which case, get a job that doesn’t require any effort!
Grr….
On the plus side – you now have an iPhone – I love mine!
I think he was agency staff, I would like to think in this economic climate he would have made more of an effort
Kev saw how much you loved it and decided to get one too. Phone now charged and he uses it to torment me! Weird ringtones, beeping like a car when texts come through (and he gets around 350 a day)… I am not going to have a moments peace until mine arrives in January!
Well, whatever the case was with the delivery boy, atleast you got your Iphone delivered. Call it good luck or whatever else.
It happens with many delivery guys the reason differs from person to person.
