When booking a courier service you have to bear in mind sometimes it will cross your mind that you could deliver the item yourself and save yourself money.
So when is it the right time for you to deliver rather than your courier?
1.When the item is low value and going local.
If the item is relatively low cost and going local, then a courier will save you time that could be spent on other jobs and winning new business. If you fancy a break from the office, this is the ideal scenario to deliver the goods yourself.
1.When it can be delivered in office hours
A courier is often happy to deliver out of hours to meet a customer’s need. If it’s normal office hours and you have nothing better to do, this is a good scenario to deliver goods yourself – it also allows personal interaction with the customer who will be appreciative that you took the time to make the delivery.
1.When you need to see the client
Sometimes the delivery is confidential paperwork that needs to be signed and returned to the office, before work can commence – here the personal touch can make all the difference on how soon the project can commence.
2.When you don’t have to hire a vehicle, get special insurance and take a day off of work… sometimes the cost of doing the delivery yourself becomes prohibitive when you work out the actual cost compared to a courier service. Remember to take into account the high fuel prices when working out the costings.
If you items are high value, fragile or time sensitive a courier is your best option, remember they do this day in and day out and are experts at moving items and transporting them safely.
If only it was as easy as it looks!

It is certainly sensible to think about this – something may be simple enough to collect/deliver myself, but when you realise the cost of the time it takes and fuel, etc, it is often more cost effective to get a reliable courier to do it for you – takes a huge weight off too.
