Moving your office

The only thing more stressful than a move according to psychologists is death and divorce. In this blog we are going to share some tips to make your small business move more efficient and less stressful.

Unlike a house move moving the location of your business, if not done correctly could cost your business money. Virtually all offices moves can take place over a weekend so there is no disruption to your day to day business.

A well planned office move would include booking your office removal service with plenty of notice. It should be treated like any other large project carried out by your company. The relocation experts treated as project managers as that is what they are for you. Once you have assigned this you move should run smoother and together you will assess whether you can do a staged move.

Every office has non essential equipment that may be able to be moved or placed into storage before the main move or prior to your lease expiring. This allows you actual move day to receive priority attention.

Check what equipment your office movers have, for example an electric stair climber would be very useful if you your office furniture has to go up and down lots of flights of stairs. The right type of crates can make all the difference and you will need to check that your moving company has crates or will organise their hire on your behalf.

Sometimes a few jumbo transits is far more time effective than one large 7.5 tonne vehicle. What this means is a vehicle can be loaded and sent to the new premises and the next vehicle loaded whilst that vehicle is unloading instead of waiting for one large vehicle to be packed and loaded.

Whatever you do decide to do to move your office make sure you have several quotes so you can compare the services offered.

A well planned move needn’t be stressful it can be as simple as leaving one office on Friday and going to a new office on Monday.

Good luck

Kevin

Thank you for the hospitality

Twice recently my express courier company Arrow Light Haulage was the guest of Road Traffic Solicitors in Kent, Kaslers.

The first time we went shooting.I had never been shooting before and Sarah was quite jealous and spent weeks inventing reasons for me not to go. I was onto her tactics though ;-) To be honest I half expected solicitors and couriers with guns to be a recipe for disaster ;-) but it was an incredibly fun day out and I tried something different. I really enjoyed it. I also got to chat with Laury Burr and Chris Lodge again.

More recently The Road User Benefit Scheme founder members of which my company is part of, was invited to a transport industry networking event, again by Kaslers.

Our Family080

This was a great afternoon where I spent some more time getting to know Michael Breeze and Chris Lodge better, both are great company.

So thank you Michael, Chris and Kaslers for your generous hospitality. Spending this time with you made me aware that you have the drivers interests at heart, and you really are the best people for the job when it comes to road traffic accident advice. The depth of knowledge held by the team at Kaslers is unrivaled.

Regards

Kevin

Delivering when it snows… Some tips for you.

The very nature of some products means that even if it snow, they still have to be delivered. Fuel, grit, Salt still have to be delivered and distributed. That means some delivery drivers have to take extra care when making their deliveries – that means being prepared for the worst whilst hoping for the best!

So here are some tips for journeys that have to be made.

1. Charge your mobile phone and make sure you have your breakdown recovery number in it.

2. Check you have a full tank of fuel and plenty of screenwash with the correct amount of water / antifreeze in the radiator.

3. Check you car battery – Winter puts a strain on the electrical system of your vehicle, if it doesnt look right, consider postponing your journey.

4. Take spade with you, blankets, chocolate bars, water bottles and  anything you may need if you break down. High visibility jackets – not always to wear but can highlight where you are if you break down.

5. Remember the other drivers are experiencing the same road conditions as you are, they need to see you, so turn your lights on and be visible.

Journeys in extreme weather really should be postponed but if you are an essential service or a delivery driver, sometimes you still have to deliver the goods. Just be safe when you do so.
